The other day I was listening online to Elder Huang Xiaoshi's speech (黄小石长老,in my view the best Chinese evangelical speaker I have ever come across from the States). He was talking about the purpose of life and so on and when commenting on the the modern society's consumerism and the culture of living on debt, he gave a quote, (attributed to Will Rogers I think) which made me laugh immediately and think for a long while.
"People are funny: They spend money they don't have, to buy things they don't need, to impress people they don't like. ..."
The world is indeed a mad place, but home is entirely different.
Home is a place where people are not funny, where you don't have to pretend you have money or power or academic degrees or whatsoever, where people accept, value and care about you wholeheartedly, because they love you...
